The Posture of Prayer
Have you ever thought about the posture of prayer?
This past week I had my daily devotions as usual – coffee and Bible in hand, feet up on the office chair.
I was reading in 1 Kings 8:54 – “When Solomon had finished praying…he arose from the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread before heaven.”
I decided to assume that posture – as I did, all kinds of Scriptures came to mind and I found a clarity in my prayer life.
After a time of prayer, I reread vs. 55 & 56: “And he (Solomon) stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel… according to all that He (God)promised; not one word has failed of all His good promise, which He promised through Moses His servant.” (NASB)
As I stood, I thought of all the promises God has given to Marie-Jose and myself over the last six months. I once again felt the calm assurnace of God’s presence.
Wow! Maybe there is something to the “posture of prayer!”
Until next Monday…
