“They devoted themselves…to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
Prayer was one of the marks of the early church.
Last Saturday, MJ and I attended a prayer meeting at our home church. During the prayer meeting, there came a moment when people started to “travail” in prayer – there’s a word for you! Individuals were crying out to God in a spirit of brokeness for people who were outside of a relationship with Christ.
I must admit that it had been a long time since I had heard of or participated in that kind of prayer meeting. Then I got thinking of how our world could be impacted if more of us would “travail” for people who are missing out on a personal relationship with Christ.
Maybe it is time for the church to do some “travailing”?
Oh, by the way, the other thing that hit me is the fact that there comes a time when we all have to leave the prayer room and go into the community where people without Christ are living. Prayer should ultimately lead to action. Just something to think about!
Until next Monday…
