Silly Sicken Supper…

Tonight, Bishop Simon Peter and I are cooking a “silly sicken” supper.

In parts of Western Kenya, the letters “ch” and “sh” are pronounced “s” .  To help me understand this, Bishop told me the story of three men who walked into a restaurant and ordered chicken and chips(fries)  with chilly sauce.  It came out like this:  “We will have some sicken and sips with silly sauce please!”

So…tonight for supper we are cooking a “sicken” minus the “silly” sauce and we will have rice instead of “sips”.  Yes, you heard me right, we will cook.  MJ knows how great I am in the kitchen, so this should be interesting.  We have invited Steve Chalner to join us as his wife is away.  Please pray with me that we will not kill Steve with our kindness!!!

This morning over breakfast, I shared the vision of RTC with Bishop Simon Peter and Steve Chalner.  Their response was very positive, and we have already begun to talk how things may unfold for 2010.  There is much more to be discussed.

Tomorrow, the team will preach in different areas of Nairobi.  Please pray for me that God will give me a message of hope as I go into the Kariobangi District, one of the poorest areas of Nairobi.

Until next time…

Don

So, how was the ‘silly sicken” dinner? I’ll forever be grateful to Simon Peter for teaching you how to cook!

By the way, did Steve survive the experence?

    Love you,

    M.J.

The “silly sicken” was great, the rice stuck together, Steve was still breathing when he left!
