Monday Musings – July 6/09

On the road again…

The journey home started on Friday at 4:30 a.m. in Namibia (11:30 p.m. Thursday – Montreal time).  The team flew together to Johannesburg where two of us bid farewell to the rest of the team.  It wasn’t easy to say so long as we had been together for three weeks and had gotten along so well over that time.  There are teams that God puts together and this was certainly one of them.

I was picked up at the airport by Peter Watts, a pastor in Pretoria, as well as the overseer of the Pentecostal churches of South Africa.  We had some lunch together and then went to see the new church building that is nearing completion.  The make up of their church reminded me so much of Evangel.  I felt very much at home.

Then it was back to the airport to prepare for an eleven hour flight to London.  I decided to stay in the airport in London for the eight hour lay over.  While there, I found the multi-faith prayer room and spent the morning studying for the camp I will preach at this week.  I must admit I had debated getting on the Tube and finding my way to Wimbledon to catch a bit of the tennis fever, but decided to save some money and do some work.

Finally, I got on my flight to come home to Montreal.  After six more hours in the air, I was rewarded by seeing my family on Saturday night at the airport.  What a joy to hug them and hold them after a month on the road.  I am a blessed man!!!!  Marie-Jose, Stephanie, Jonathan and Julia, I love you all very much!!!!!!!

Well, I arrived, but my luggage didn’t.  After checking my luggage in Windhoek Namibia, they assured me that after two different airlines and three different countries, my luggage would arrive in Montreal.  Not!!!!  It was finally delivered to my house this morning around 9:30 a.m.  Marie-Jose is working hard to wash and prepare the clothes for packing as we get in the car this afternoon and drive to Ottawa Valley Camp where I begin preaching for the week at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

So, it has been quite the 48 hours but God has been so good!  Our newsletter will come out within a week at which time I will summarize the trip to Africa.  Don’t forget to check out the website if you haven’t already as there are some new videos on the media page.

Thanks again for your prayers while I was away.  Please keep MJ and myself  in your thoughts and prayers while we are at camp this week.

Until next time…

Don
