Monday Musings – 01/04/10

On the road again…

This week marks the beginning of an intense six month international travel schedule that will include eight countries on three continents of the world.  Actually, if you include our son’s wedding in the Bahamas, it will be nine countries.

On Friday, I leave for the Ukraine.  It has been seventeen years since I have travelled to that part of the world and I am excited about my return to Eastern Europe.

I have the privilege of travelling with a dear friend and colleague in ministry, Garry Fess.  Please pray for us over the next two weeks.  You will see by the following schedule that we have vigorous days of ministry, and that is just week number one!!!

January 8th … Drive from airport to Krivoy Rog (five hours)
January 9th … Adaptation day… meet Pastor Gregory / participate in McJoyful Christmas and orphanage ministry
January 10th … Sunday morning services (Don and Garry in separate churches)
January 11th … Teaching 40 students in the day college (two hours of teaching each); Teaching 50 students in the evening college (one hour each)
January 12th … Pastor’s Conference (300 pastors from across the Ukraine)
January 13th … Pastors’ Conference
January 14th … Teaching 40 students in the day college (two hours of teaching each); Teaching 50 students in the evening college (one hour each)
January 15th … Teaching 40 students in the day college (two hours of teaching each); Teaching 50 students in the evening college (one hour each)
January 16th … Visit orphanages and children’s hospital
January 17th … Sunday morning services (Don and Garry in separate churches) – then drive from Krivoy Rog to Kiev (five hours)

I will communicate the week two schedule when final details become available, however, I do know that week two will have a similar intensity, including another pastor’s conference and youth convention.

It is my plan to blog as much as possible from the Ukraine (January 8 – 25, 2010) so please check in on a regular basis for updates.

May you have a God sized, faith filled 2010!

Until next time…

Don

    Hi Don:

What an amazing trip to the Ukraine awaiting you! Our prayers (Linda and I) will be that the Lord keeps you travel-safe, healthy, and daily-replenished with good sleep/food and Holy Spirit energy! You are indeed living your ministry’s vision: ‘taking risks for Kingdom impacts’! I know the Ukrainian students, pastors and leaders whom you contact/teach and instruct will be greatly encouraged and blessed by your ministry. The Ukrainian people respond tremendously to messages of hope (Christ-centered, biblical based) – it was my top priority when teaching/preaching there (following the advice of a senior mentor to me who spent many years as a missionary-teacher-administrator in the Ukraine; Jack Hunka). Looking forward to hearing about your experiences …
    Blessings in Christ! … Tom
