Monday Musings – 29/03/10
Who would have thought that on our very first day at TTC (TransAfrica Theological College), the forty foot container with sewing machines donated to RTC would arrive from Loads of Love in Chatham Ontario. What an incredible moment to participate in the unloading of everything from clothing to cafeteria tables, farm equipment to bycicles, sewing machines to a huge double axel utility trailer. MJ and I were so proud of Ron Hills as he worked with and mentored people on how to off load a trailer that was impossible to lift with human hands.
The unloading of the container was a great lesson in teamwork. As I worked with a team of students to pass boxes down the line from the container to the storage room, I reminded them that “teamwork makes the dream work”. They liked the phrase and began to repeat it with me. Together, we witnessed how effective our work can be as we work as a team and how working together can cause dreams to become a reality.
On Friday, Marie-José visited the sewing center here on the TTC campus. She saw for herself the great work that has been started by Merlene Boyce and continues under the direction of the one she trained in 2009. We saw firsthand the machines that were donated by women in Brockville and Belleville Ontario and now will be used to train women in Zambia to become self-sustaining. Truly teamwork makes the dream work!!!
This week I will be conducting three RTC seminars in Chimwemwe, Chingola and Twatachya. On Good Friday I will preach at the Kitwe Central Church. They have told me it will be a four hour service and I have been asked to speak two messages. Only in Africa!!!
Until next time from Zambia…
