Monday Musings (Special Tuesday Edition) 11/10/11
Who could ask for a more memorable Thanksgiving weekend in Montreal? From record breaking temperatures to reunion with family and friends, this past weekend will live long in our memories.
A record breaking twenty-five degree Celsius temperature set the stage for an incredible celebration of ninety-five years of history at Evangel Pentecostal Church. What a joy for MJ and I return to the church where we spent thirteen years of our ministry life. How thrilling to see a church growing and thriving after such a lengthy and significant history. I honour Pastor Jonathan Smith and his incredible leadership team for the stellar work they are continuing under the direction of God’s mighty Hand.
I have to say it was a pretty special moment for MJ and me to watch our son give leadership to Evangel’s choir. His dream from a young age has been to direct a choir and lead them as true worshippers of God. This proud Papa could not resist taking pictures and a video.
Then, to have a Thanksgiving turkey meal with our children and my in-laws just topped off an already historic day. We are so blessed!!!!!
Well, to top it off, I was invited to the Montreal Alouettes football game on Monday. As if record temperatures and a ninety-five year celebration were not enough, I witnessed a significant moment of history in football, for both the CFL and NFL. Anthony Calvillo, at the end of the third quarter, became pro football’s career passing leader. He has surpassed greats like Damon Allen, Dan Marino and Warren Moon. I captured the celebration on video and will hold on to my ticket as proof that I was there to see history in the making.
So, all in all, this Thanksgiving was quite the weekend. I do not take these moments for granted. They are a constant reminder of the many blessings that are afforded to us in life. I thank God for history and broken records. May our past propel us to new heights and even greater records in the future.
Until next Monday…
